James in action

In the first two rounds of the season we have had some very disappointing results, despite delivering our best kart performance to date. In the first round of our main club championship at Rye House this year, we had carberation problems which gave us some very poor heat results, putting us 5th in the final. We performed very well in the final and the kart was flying, mainly due to some setup changes we had discovered during testing a couple of weeks before. We came 2nd and also got the 2nd fastest lap of the meeting, which was very pleasing. In round two we had some bad luck in our first heat after being spun off at one of the corners, however, we managed to recover to 3rd. We won the second heat and also got the fastest lap of the race. During this race, the kart performed at its best.

In the third heat we started 6th and managed to make up a few places. We qualified 2nd for the final, which was unlucky as it was on the outside for the first corner, which is obviously the long way round. Due to this, I was 4th by the end of the first corner. I fought my way to 2nd before making a driver error at one of the hairpins. This was very disappointing as I usually pride myself on my consistency. This incident put us down to 4th, and with a damaged steering I could not fight my way any further up the field. Unfortunately the championship leader also ended up 2 places in front of me, which hasn't done me any good in terms of championship position. I have it all to do in round 3...
